The Warehouse Technology Group (WTG) has enjoyed its most successful event to date. Taking place at LRIC, a unique fully working warehouse, the event on the 22nd May featured a unique collaboration of 20+ companies involved in the manufacture and supply of specialist equipment to the warehousing and logistics industry.
The event based around the topic "Integrated Warehousing - Planning for Efficiency" involved a keynote speech from Anand Lakhani of Unipart Expert Practices in addition to a number of educational seminars focussing on the event theme. The event also saw the WTG introduce an event first, "The Interactive Warehouse Train Set". This generated considerable interest from leading logistics professionals demonstrating how product is handled from initial delivery right through to the final picking stage, highlighting the importance of integration and synergy between the different partner processes.
The success and evolution of the events highlights the growing prominence of the WTG as an industry group whose events represent a departure from current industry offerings. Unlike the traditional trade show or sales-led speed-date events, WTG open days are informal sessions which focus on 'show and tell' and offer relaxed, impartial advice to help industry professionals make informed purchasing decisions.
The next event will take place on the 16th October 2013, which will also take place at the LRIC and utilise the centre's wide range of facilities and equipment to give delegates valuable insights into new technology and working practices.
